North Shore Solstice
The North Shore of Lake Superior was dotted with the homes and boathouses of fishermen, usually Swedes, Norwegians, or Finns, who would put a boat and a net out as long as the ice held off the lake. A December night with hard winter still to come and oil lamps lit– mending nets, spending holiday time with family, or maybe just being glad to be inside.
